Discover your options

Kent Business School offers a choice of business and management degrees on the University of Kent’s campuses at Canterbury and Medway.

If you are looking for a generic business degree that provides a launching pad into a variety of options then you may wish to consider either our BBA or the Business Studies both of which are highly regarded by employers worldwide.

Business Administration (BBA) at Canterbury – this is the Business School’s most popular programme.  It reflects the increasingly global nature of business and aims to equip you with the know-how, techniques and skills you need to succeed in the key areas involved in managing organisations. This option allows you the flexibility to choose modules available in other areas like marketing or accounting and even to take modules offered on other degrees available at the university like law, computing or modern languages. On this programme you have an option of taking your third year as a work placement or a year studying or working abroad.

Business Studies at Medway – a highly relevant and practical business degree that will give you a good overview of today’s complex business issues and equip you with the understanding and key skills to work effectively.  This programme has a mandatory 1 year work placement which is a reflection on its vocational nature and the excellent links the Business School has with industry.

Do you have strengths and ability to excel in other areas? In addition to our general Business programmes, we offer specialist management degrees that can help you differentiate yourself on the job market and define your career early on.

Accounting and Finance at Canterbury. This degree has been designed to make sure it responds to the needs and expectations of the modern accountancy profession. Accountants are probably best know for checking the validity of company accounts and “auditing”, but that is not all they do. They also devise and operate financial systems, conduct investment analysis, advise on business start-ups, company takeovers and company rescue schemes. If you think you would enjoy a career along these lines then this degree is a good option. By doing this degree at Kent Business School you will also gain exemptions from the major professional bodies in the UK.

Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management at Canterbury. This programme was one of the first of its kind in the UK. It is a multidisciplinary subject and so we developed a degree which allows you to draw on the resources of a number of departments across the University in areas such as Law, Economics or Social Policy. The programme will give you the tools, knowledge and skills to prepare you for a career in personnel, human resource management or other aspects of business where knowledge of people management is fundamental.

International Business at Medway. This new and highly relevant programme is aimed at students who wish to study business from an international and global perspective.  It combines the core subjects of business with a focus on the impact of globalisation, emerging markets and multinational corporations. Students who graduate from this programme will be well prepared for future careers in global companies and international operations.

Management Science at Canterbury. Management Science is also known as operational research or decision analysis. Graduates with good quantitative skills which they can use to create models and simulations and with the ability to analyse and communicate data which will help solve complex problems, are in enormous demand. Kent Business School has one of the top management science groups in the country and their research feeds directly into the programme. For more information about this exciting subject and examples of careers in demand visit www.thescienceofbetter.org

Tourism Management at Medway. This exclusive programme provides students with a thorough understanding of one of the world's largest and most dynamic industries. Tourism Management is taught within  Kent Business School and so is a blend of both the study of tourism and the study of business and management. This combination develops the necessary analytical skills that future tourism leaders will need in both the public and private sectors. The programme is exclusive in that numbers are kept relatively small and students come into close contact with world-class researchers and experts from the Tourism Industry.
