Opportunities in Science

The School of Applied Sciences offers the following opportunities for BSc Honours Degrees and Foundation Degrees.

 

Biological Sciences: Courses include Animal Biology, Ecology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Medicinal Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Animal Care and Management, Equine Management, Equine Sports Science, Veterinary Nursing, Amenity Horticulture and Garden Design, and Floristry and Floral Design.

 

Biomedical Science and Physiology: Courses include BiomedicalScience, Human Biology and Molecular Medicine, and allow accreditation by the Instituteof Biomedical Scientists or the Health Profession Council. Physiology awards include Human Physiology and its clinical and occupational applications, and Physiology and Pharmacology. The Clinical Physiology degree is professionally accredited.

 

Forensic Science: Awards include Forensic Science, Forensic Science and Criminal Justice, and Forensic Science and Law.

 

Geography and Environmental Science: Courses include Geography, Physical Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Countryside and Sustainable Land Management, and Aquaculture and Fisheries.

 

Pharmacy and Pharmacology: Programmes include Pharmacy, Pharmacology (as part of a Joint Honours Degree) and Pharmaceutical Science.

 

Psychology: Programmes cover the core areas that meet the requirementsfor recognition by the British Psychological Society. Psychology can bestudied as a Single or Joint Honours Award, or you can opt for a Degreein Counselling Psychology.

 

Programmes of study reflect the breadth of knowledge and skills needed by today’s scientists, allowing our graduates to achieve a high success in a wide range of careers. There are many opportunities to take a sandwich degree or to incorporate work placement as a credited part of an award. Many of the Single Honours subjects can also be taken as part of a JointHonours Degree and most courses can be studied on a part-time as well as full-time basis.
